Cherry Nut Bread

2 Cups Flour
1 1/2 tsp. Baking powder
1/2 tsp. Soda
1 tsp. Salt
1 Cup Sugar
1 Cup Chopped nutmeats
1 tsp. Grated orange rind
2 Tbl Soft shortening
1 Egg
1/2 Cup Orange juice
1/2 Cup Warm water
1 Cup Canned or frozen tart cherries Drained and halved

Mix dry ingredients together. Combine shortening, egg, orange juice, water and cherries and mix well, add to dry ingredients. Blend until dry ingredients are moistened. Note: fold in cherries last for better color.

Place in a greased loaf pan 9x4x3-inch. Bake at 350 degrees for 55-60 minutes.

Double recipe = 9 small loaf pans
